  • Gore hosts doctors from the UK and USA

    Two GPs – one from America and one from the United Kingdom - will work at the same practice in Gore in the coming months. Dr Carl Rasmussen from the USA will be based at Gore Medical Centre for six months and Dr Jonathan Clowes from the UK for three months.

  • Nature is key

    NZRGPN and NZLocums staff took a break from the office on October 10 as part of the Mental Health Foundation’s Mental Health Awareness Week “Lock out” with a coffee break in Wellington’s Botanic Garden. A short uphill walk over the urban motorway and through the historic Bolton Street cemetery, the gardens provided the perfect setting for staff to “unlock their wellbeing” amongst nature. The weather turned on a bright face for the occasion which was repeated nationwide throughout the week.

    A big congratulations to Deb Lawson from Kaikoura Health who was NZlocums’ prize draw winner at GP CME south, held in Christchurch from 11th – 13th August. Deb took home an amazing get well goodness goodie hamper with some delicious pick me up treats.

Dr Clark will be working with NZLocums in the near future to provide cover within rural New Zealand.     NZLocums March Orientation attendees Gina Boorsma, Laura Wallevik, and Matthew Grade travelled from the Netherlands, Denmark and the USA to work in Waimauku, Opunake and Warkworth. Both Gina and Laura are accompanied by their husbands and children. The latter will be attending New Zealand schools while they are here. We wish them all the best of luck on their adventures.

    NZLocums three-day Orientation course is proving to be much more than an introduction to the New Zealand health system, it’s also opening doors to friendships for those completing it.

    While the main focus of the Orientation course is to help introduce overseas doctors and practice nurses to various aspects of the New Zealand health system, it has also created a great opportunity for attendees to form a support network with others experiencing the same journey as themselves.
