New Zealand Rural General Practice Network and NZLocums staff have been in touch with affected rural practices following Monday’s 7.5 earthquake. Initial feedback has been that, through the generous response of health professionals, there is sufficient cover in place for the time being. Following our contact with practices we have learnt of one practice that has released it practice nurses to assist in Kaikoura and the GP from Hanmer Springs has also made himself available. We understand that cover is generally being managed through the Disaster Response teams.
