We are proud to announce that The Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners (RNZCGP) has approved our orientation course for CME credits.

The “Orientation for Overseas Trained General Practitioners” has been endorsed by The Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners (RNZCGP) and has been approved for up to 14.0 credits CME for General Practice Educational Programme Stage 2 (GPEP2) and Maintenance of Professional Standards (MOPS) purposes.

The NZLocums’ orientation course is a comprehensive three day course which prepares overseas GPs before they start practicing in New Zealand. We are the only organisation in New Zealand who run this beneficial introductory course.

The three days include:

• Presentation by a local practitioner giving a background on working in New Zealand
• Accident Compensation Corporation session
• Four hour resuscitation workshop
• Pharmaceutical schedule/prescribing guidelines explanation
• IRD tax session including IRD number/exemption certificate processing
• Work and Income New Zealand – implication for GPs
• Medical Protection Society background
• Medical Council of New Zealand interview, if required
• BNZ bank registration, if required
• Introduction to the Code of Rights
• Three hour Medtech32 training
• Guided cultural tour of the Te Papa museum

The orientation course has been successfully running monthly for over 10 years and is held at our NZLocums’ offices in Wellington.
