RN prescribing a reality

The first registered nurse prescriber could be signing their first script on September 20 when long-awaited RN prescribing regulations come into force.

Nursing Council chief executive Carolyn Reed said the regulations – that opens registered nurse (RN) prescribing up to suitably qualified RNs beyond just nurse practitioners (NPs) and diabetes nurse specialists – were signed by the Governor General on June 20 on the advice of the Minister of Health and Cabinet.
