Role

Due to retirement, an Ashburton practice are looking to recruit a GP on a permanent basis. The position available is for 8 sessions per week, with an afterhours requirement of 2 weekends per month, and rostered Tuesday evenings.

A salaried position is available to overseas applicants looking to stay for 2 years or more, with the practice contributing to relocation costs.

Practice

You will be an integral part of the practice team supported by other GPs, experienced and capable practice nurses, and competent reception and administration staff. The practice treats patients across the broad spectrum of general practice across all age groups.

Location

Ashburton is a large town located a short drive from Christchurch and is situated in the heart of the Canterbury Plains. Ashburton is the hub of the Mid Canterbury’s, combining city facilities and vibrancy with smaller town friendliness. You’ll enjoy a nationally recognised art gallery and aviation museum and a relaxing laid-back country atmosphere.

Lake Hood, on the outskirts of Ashburton is a paradise for water enthusiasts, with a wide range of activities including swimming to yachting, boating and waterskiing as well as a range of accommodation in Ashburton. Enjoy coffee or dining at the lakefront restaurant and watch the world go by.

Ashburton is well-equipped with seven primary schools, an intermediate school, a secondary school and a composite school. There is a cinema, swimming pool and two local golf courses.

With New Zealand’s best ski resort Mount Hutt just an hour away, it is the perfect location for those wanting to spend their spare time on the slopes.
