Role

We are seeking a permanent General Practitioner (Family Medicine physician). A part time opportunity is available, working a minimum of Monday to Thursday, hours negotiable.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and enjoy working within a small team.

Practice

This small, friendly medical practice is situated in suburban Hamilton. There is a core team of 3 GPs, 2 nurses, a Practice Manager and an experienced administration staff.

The number of registered patients is around 3700 with the practice serving a small suburban working/middleclass community.  The medical team are health professionals with diverse skills who provide expert quality care and friendly advice to individuals and families in the community. The small team pride themselves on their ability to work well with each other, keeping their patients at the centre of their focus.

Location

The city of Hamilton is located on the banks of the mighty Waikato River, which is best appreciated from one of the scenic riverside walks or boat cruise. The visually stunning Hamilton Gardens are webbed by paths that journey through a gallery of themed gardens from grand Italy to tranquil Asia.

Other city highlights include the Waikato Museum which provides an insight into the areas rich history and the Hamilton Zoo, which provides native birds with enormous freedom in a walk-through free flight aviary. The city is also well known as a destination for national and international events from sporting matches such as rugby, cricket, netball, rowing and boxing to concerts and festivals. Annual events such as the National Agricultural Fieldays and Balloons over Waikato festival draw crowds from far and wide.

Hamilton is home to more than 40,000 tertiary students, mostly enrolled in one of the city’s three main tertiary institutes; the University of Waikato, Waikato Institute of Technology and Te Wanagao Aotearoa. As well as state and private primary, intermediate and high schools, it also notably includes a number of Kura Kaupapa Maori primary schools offering education in the Māori language.
