Role

We are seeking two General Practitioners to be part of a fun and dedicated team of GPs and highly skilled practice nurses. You will be working around 8-10 sessions per week with some on-call.

Practice

The Kaikohe clinic is a privately-owned and purpose-built health centre is situated in the town’s commercial area.  You will be part of a team of four full time and four part time doctors, and the practice also hosts medical students and GP registrars.  This is a busy practice where you will receive excellent support from the practice nurses, administration staff and receptionists. The clinic has approximately 8,300 registered patients, and GPs see an average of 30 patients per day.

Surgery hours are 8.30am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday, and on a Saturday morning there is an emergency clinic between 9.00am to 12.30pm.

You can choose to be based at one clinic or work across the clinics at Kaikohe, Waipapa and Kaitaia.

 

Location

Strategically located in the centre of Northland, Kaikohe provides shops and services for an extensive farming district. The town has a population of around 4000, with a further 16,000 in the surrounding districts. The main local attraction is the pioneer village, which includes several restored historic buildings – New Zealand’s oldest courthouse, an 1875 cottage, a jail, a school and more. You will also see Maori artefacts, gum-digging equipment and a blacksmith’s shop. Not far from Kaikohe are hot pools at Ngawha Springs and Waiariki Pools.

Kaikohe is only a short drive from the beautiful town of Kerikeri, where many of the staff choose to live. You could live in beautiful Kerikeri where you could enjoy the sunny Bay of Islands everyday and commute to work is only 25 minutes away!
