Role

We are seeking a friendly general practitioner (family medicine physician) to join our supportive team. You will be working four sessions per week- Wednesday and Friday. This is a permanent part-time position with minor on-call, which will give you plenty of leisure time.

You will have a strong sense of fulfilment, and an appreciation of a work / life balance in a rural setting. Having experience in the field of Gynaecology and Obstetrics would be ideal.

Practice

The practice has approximately 4000 enrolled patients.  The local population is mainly employed in the agricultural industry although there is also large number of older / retired people. Most patients are New Zealand European with a small Māori population.

The practice is Cornerstone accredited and a Training practice. You would work alongside 3 other GPs, 2 Registrars, a skilled nursing team and experienced reception staff.

Location

Leeston is a town on the Canterbury Plains in the South Island of New Zealand. It is located 40 kilometres southwest of Christchurch, between the shore of Lake Ellesmere and the mouth of the Rakaia River. The town supports the local farming industry, but has all the necessities of many bigger townships such as a supermarket, schools, churches, hospital (for elderly care only) and a small swimming pool.

Leeston is close to some of New Zealand’s best tourist destinations including Christchurch city, Hanmer Springs and Akaroa and is half a days drive from Queenstown and Wanaka. Fantastic skiing, mountain climbing, hiking and fishing opportunities are close by.
