- Small quaint town
- Surrounded by beautiful landscape, mountains, sea & native forests
We are looking for a permanent or fixed term GP to join our friendly and well trained team. The role is for eight to ten sessions per week with no on-call. We are looking for an enthusiastic, hard-working team player who enjoys working in a busy practice. There is also the possibility of buying into the practice.
This is a busy privately-owned practice that is based in a converted and extended house one block from the centre of town. It is a well-equipped practice with four doctor consulting rooms and three nurse consulting rooms. The practice also provides external services to three local rest homes.
The local PHO (Primary Health Organisation) has their regional facilities situated next door including district nurses, physiotherapists laboratory services and mental health services.
The town of Marton, population around 6000, is situated midway between the riverside city of Whanganui, and Palmerston North, one of New Zealand’s largest provincial cities and the site of Massey University. The central North Island ski fields are only one and a half hours drive to the north.
Marton is a service centre for the rural community. The town is well-resourced with shops and other amenities and the close proximity of Marton to several major centres offers enviable options. Within the town itself is a heated, covered Olympic-sized pool and gymnasium, a cinema, a number of cafes and restaurants, and a range of sports facilities and cultural clubs. The nearest golf course is 10 kilometres from the town centre. Kayaking, road cycling, bush walks and trout fishing are all popular activities that can be enjoyed in and around Marton.
