Milton has a population of approximately 2000 people and is the gateway to North, South and Central Otago. This farming area provides the opportunity for travellers to become part of a local ‘family’ and experience life in a rural community. There are a number of kindergartens, primary and secondary schools in the area. It lies only three hours from the ski-fields in Wanaka and Queenstown, and just an hour from the beautiful Catlins, home to the endangered yellow-eyed penguin. The city of Dunedin is less than an hour’s drive and is rich with architecture, is home to the University of Otago and the world’s steepest residential street.
