We are seeking a permanent GP to join this progressive practice. Our staff truly believe in making a difference in people’s lives, and we are proud of our achievements.
We are looking at new models of care and streamlining processes, and require a GP who is flexible, passionate and able to listen to our patients.
This is the only very low cost access (VLCA) practice in central New Plymouth. Our patients come from varied backgrounds and situations, with approximately 60% patients with high needs and some patients from low socio economic deprivation.
Our clinic is situated approximately five minutes’ drive from the Taranaki Base Hospital. This is a 210-bed hospital providing a wide-range of services from recently modernised facilities. We are fortunate to have other services situated in the same building which helps to support our patients.
We have a fantastic team including a navigator/kaiawhina at the practice who is able to help patients with non-medical issues they may be having including, housing, Work and Income New Zealand advocacy and accessing other services such as counselling. This enables the GP’s and other clinical staff to focus on the patients’ medical needs rather than spend time linking to other services.
A very competitive salary is on offer, with assistance towards travel, accommodation and a vehicle, as well as professional costs.
New Plymouth is located in the region of Taranaki, which is on the west coast of the North Island. It has an estimated population of 74,000 and is a mix of diverse cultures and contemporary styles. New Plymouth is becoming a popular region for visitors, businesses, migrants, refugees and their families.
The district is also known for its rugged coastline, world class surfing spots, fertile farming land, major events and, of course, the majestic Mt Taranaki (also known as Mt Egmont). Taranaki’s mild climate allows residents and visitors ample opportunity to enjoy the many outdoor activities on offer. Taranaki has more sunshine hours than most of the country while the rainfall is enough to keep the grass green and the fauna flourishing.
Diversity is celebrated in New Plymouth District. It is a safe, welcoming and community-orientated place to live.
