We are seeking a permanent General Practitioner to work in a friendly GP Practice. You will be confident in a rural setting, a team player with a sense of humour. Working requirements are at least four days per week with a low weekend on-call ratio of 1:8.
The surgery hours are 8.30am – 5.30pm with 15 minute appointments. The centre has x-ray with other health providers providing community mental health, mobile surgical services, laboratory services, Iwi health services, voluntary ambulance service and varied visiting specialists.
There are 3700 enrolled patients with the practice. Practice nurses support the GPs and manage their own nurse led clinics.
A generous remuneration package is on offer including assistance with relocations costs, free accommodation/car for six months. Medical Council registration fees and Medical Indemnity will also be paid for by the practice.
Taihape, like its gumboot icon, is a humble and hard-working community. The district’s population is 5500 and the town has all the amenities you’ll need. Nothing influences the region more than its namesake, the Rangitikei River and its deep river gorges. Beautiful, remote and yet accessible, it provides the backdrop for many attractions including white water rafting, trout fishing and kayaking. This area will suit a GP who loves the outdoors as it’s near three national parks. The ski fields of Mt Ruapehu are only an hour away, as is the famous Lake Taupo where you can unwind in the natural hot springs. The nearest main cities are Palmerston North and Wanganui, both within 75 minutes’ drive.
