Tauranga, Bay of Plenty - view map
Start date: As soon as possible
- Beautiful, beachside community
- Group practice with collegial support
- Small town living just outside the city
We are seeking a general practitioner to join this friendly group practice which provides urgent care services alongside family practice. The clinic is located in a beautiful beachside community just outside the city of Tauranga in the sunny Bay of Plenty.
This role would suit a GP who is passionate about what they do, and would like to be part of a dedicated team of healthcare professionals and support staff.
This position is eight sessions (four days) per week, with a small amount of afterhours work also.
The practice has around 10,000 enrolled patients and also sees a lot of casual patients, especially with the tourist population in summer. The staff includes eight doctors, two of whom do urgent care work only. GPs see patients in 15 minute appointments, and for those that are interested there is the opportunity to work in urgent care alongside family practice. The practice has a collegial environment which includes contact with other GPs and staff from other local practices.
Other services provided at the clinic include skin clinics and skin cancer surgery, women’s health, chronic care clinics, pre-employment screening, hearing test, immigration medicals, ECG and spirometry. A pharmacy is located onsite, and x-ray services are nearby. Tauranga Hospital is 15 minutes’ drive from the clinic, and provides a full range of specialist services.
Tauranga is the largest city in the Bay of Plenty and is just a 15 minute drive from one of New Zealand’s most popular beach towns, Mount Maunganui. Tauranga has a warm temperate climate for most of the year. It can be described as subtropical due to high summer humidity.
Downtown Tauranga has several historically significant areas to view during a scenic walk around the area. The Strand waterfront area is modern and always buzzing, and is home to a number of cafés, restaurants, pubs and nightclubs, as well as a range of accommodation options.
Tauranga’s harbour is in evidence almost everywhere you go, providing the urban area with an attractive waterfront setting. Fishing, sailing, diving and dolphin tours are easy to arrange, or check out one of the local beauty spots – McLaren Falls or the Kaimai Mamaku Forest Park.
Tauranga is only three and a half hours from Auckland city, two hours to Lake Taupo and one hour to Rotorua. This makes this city a very attractive place to live in as it is very close to so many popular tourist destinations in the North Island.
