Contract: Short Term
Start date: May 2021

  • Locum fixed term maternity cover for up to 6 months
  • PRIME training essential
  • Enjoy an iconic part of the South Island

An opportunity has become available to provide maternity cover for short or long term locums over May to December 2021.

The practice is looking for a capable, resourceful, dynamic and community-minded team player, with the ability to easily adapt between routine primary healthcare needs and urgent/critical presentations. Join the dedicated, talented and committed practice team in providing healthcare services to their remote and rural communities. The nature of the location brings a wide range of clinical presentations, including medical and trauma emergencies, for which the practice is well resourced with custom built facilities and equipment.

The position available is for 0.6 – 0.8 FTE. The on call requirements are 1 weeknight/week on-call including PRIME and 1 in 6 PRIME weekend and weekend clinic / on call cover.

Experience in a remote, rural location is desirable and PRIME provider registration is essential.

There is some flexibility around an earlier start date as well as the option of commencing PRIME cover earlier than the rest of the contract and extending beyond the contract term.

A competitive remuneration package is on offer with details available on request.

Allowances can be provided for assistance with relocation and accommodation. A PRIME vehicle is available for both the weeknight and weekend on duty with access to an additional practice vehicle for work-related trips (subject to availability).

Twizel is located in an iconic part of the South Island, close to a wide range of recreational activities including cycle trails, mountaineering, ski fields, walking tracks and lakes. Commonly known as the Gateway to Aoraki/Mt Cook – you’ll find ski fields with a fantastic range of trails, jumps and runs meaning all your skiing and snowboarding needs will be catered for. If fishing is your hobby, then this is also the place to be; you have a choice of three salmon farms and five lakes. The town itself has a great centre, with all the shops sitting around the square and a playground in the middle for the kids.  You also have schools, sports and cultural centres for the family.
