A busy, dynamic Health Hub located in the MacKenzie District are seeking a motivated and committed Practice Manager to join their supportive team for a 6 month period, working 20 hours per week. You will bring to the role your strong attention to detail and ability to lead, enabling the staff to fulfil and expand their roles in the practice. This is a fantastic opportunity to take a career sabbatical in a unique and beautiful part of New Zealand, exploring the nearby lakes, Southern Alps and the Aoraki Mount Cook National Park.
Reporting to the High Country Health Board, the manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and will be expected to apply the financial acumen required in running a charitable community-owned practice. The practice currently uses MedTech32, but will be moving to MedTech Evolution pre-summer 2020. Usual practice hours are from 8.00am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday. Additional weekend / evening clinics may be scheduled over the summer period if necessary, as well as remote clinics for neighbouring communities.
A salaried position is on offer, plus a weekly accommodation supplement or the use of a 2-bedroom suite located on the premises (subject to availability).
As a predominantly tourism focussed region, the practice has been particularly hard-hit by the economic downturn post COVID-19. However the community is resilient, and have been very supportive of their Community owned Medical Centre. With 1500 registered patients, a number of young families make up the majority of the patient demographic, with an additional cohort of elderly, long-term Twizel local residents. The close-knit team of 14 staff are committed to providing professional integrated health services to the MacKenzie District Community and visitors.
The practice operates out of a modern, custom-built premises with 7 consult rooms, full resuscitation and triage facility, separate entry controlled afterhours access, helipad, and allied health services including physiotherapy, podiatry, Mental Health Services, and audiology. The practice also looks after PRIME and district nursing contracts.
The Mackenzie District located in South Canterbury is one of New Zealand’s most visited tourism destinations and said to be one of the “best stargazing sites on earth”. Its diverse and rugged landscape includes New Zealand’s highest mountain Aoraki/Mount Cook, glacier fed lakes, and clear clean rivers. Enjoy a relaxing walk in native forest, a hike or trek into alpine wilderness, or just sit amongst the rich natural landscape and take in the view.
