Role
This busy practice is seeking an experienced and innovative Practice Manager to join their team. If you are looking for a change, this exciting role managing our busy GP practice in a diverse and rural island community, might be just what you are looking for. The practice is situated on Waiheke Island one of the top tourist destinations in NZ. You will still have access to the benefits of the city just a 35 minute ferry trip away. Live locally or with regular sailings take a relaxing ferry commute.
Practice
Waiheke Island has two main health providers, Piritahi Hau Ora Trust and Waiheke Health Trust, who deliver health services to the Island. The practice jointly provides an Urgent and After Hours Service for the Island with Piritahi Hau Ora Trust.
The practice has a full complement of staff consisting of 4 General Practitioners, a Nurse Practitioner and 10 other nursing and administration staff. The practice are proud of the care they provide but equally excited about being at the forefront of future innovation in primary health care innovation for the Island.
Waiheke Island has several specific health service challenges, primarily around the isolation nature of being an island and the seasonal fluctuations in the population. With a diverse and permanent population of approximately 9,500 residents which swells significantly in holiday periods to around 1 million visitors and tourists, the needs of the practice are ever changing.
Location
Waiheke Island is a national treasure located in the beautiful Hauraki Gulf 18km from Auckland, and the second largest island on the Gulf. Home to historic sites, wildlife and diverse habitats, the island is an important part of New Zealand’s landscape. Known as a region for its many wineries and vineyards, Waiheke offers a relaxed lifestyle and friendly community. Auckland City is only 35 minutes away by ferry (departing every half an hour), where there are all the attractions of city life.
