Contract: Long Term
Start date: August 2018 to November 2018
- Beautiful coastal location just north of Auckland
- Long standing staff
- Modern, purpose built facility
We are seeking a GP locum to cover the next 2 – 3 months working eight sessions/per week (Monday to Friday) at this group practice based on the Whangaparaoa Peninsula, conveniently located just north of Auckland.
The clinic was built in September 2016 and provides a light and fresh working environment with modern facilities. Five long-standing GPs are employed by the practice, as well as another two who have joined more recently. Excellent support is provided by nurses and administrators.
Staff enjoy a friendly and supportive atmosphere, with the opportunity for teaching if you are interested; there is currently one GPEP1 registrar at the practice. All general practice services are offered, as well as minor surgery. The practice has 5900 enrolled patients and GPs see around 26 patients each per day.
This is a well-established and growing practice where staff strive to support each other, and provide high-quality, proactive medical care to their patients.
The Whangaparaoa Peninsula is one of New Zealand’s best kept secrets and offers a wide range of activities including stunning beaches and a world class golf course. The Peninsula makes up part of Auckland’s Hibiscus Coast and is only a short 35 minutes’ drive north of Auckland’s CBD.
The Peninsula juts out over eleven kilometres in to the beautiful waters of the Hauraki Gulf giving stunning panoramic views of the entire Gulf including Great Barrier Island, Tiritiri Matangi Wildlife sanctuary, Rangitoto Island, the Corromandal Peninsula and many more islands. The town of Whangaparaoa is on the southwestern shore. At the end of the peninsula is Shakespear Regional Park. The New Zealand Defence Force owns part of this area, which has been used as a resettlement camp for refugees.
Nearby Red Beach is approximately 2km long, sandy and safe for swimming, and Orewa has shopping, banks, restaurants and cafes. Further north is Waiwera with its famous hot pools.
In the past twenty years a township has developed on the high land above Stanmore Bay and at the proposed Penlink intersection, including a shopping centre, a movie theatre, a bowling alley, a library and community centre, making living on the extremities of the peninsula more convenient.
